Although I haven’t posted here in a while, don’t think that means I haven’t been busy with Goofram.

Over the last week, I’ve been experimenting with asynchronous Javascript loading in order to give the website a snappier feel.
When it comes to making sure one script loads before another that depends upon it, things start to get a little shaky. Right when it looked like I had things figured out, it would turn out that what works in Firefox on Linux might not work in the same version on Windows. Internet Explorer is a whole other can of worms. If you were having intermittent trouble viewing Goofram over the past week, it was due to these small tweaks.
In any case, things are a more stable now, and Goofram is loading faster than ever. Internet Explorer still needs some work to get the window sizing correct; really, you’d be better off using any other browser, but at least it more-or-less works now.
If you do notice anything weird while viewing Goofram, please drop me a comment here.

There are also some plans in the pipeline for improved compatibility with mobile devices – keep your eyes peeled for those in the upcoming weeks!

The Google side of things should now be displaying in your preferred language, which is half the battle. Wolfram Alpha doesn’t really have any language settings yet, so you’ll just have to put up with English on that side of your screen.

If Google isn’t properly localized, first make sure your browser actually knows what your preferred language is!
In Firefox, go to Tools->Options->Content->Choose and make sure your preferred language is at the top of the list. In Internet Explorer, try checking Tools->Internet Options->General->Languages. If you’ve got a different browser, you’re on your own — unless some kind soul leaves a helpful comment

It’s difficult for me to see what things look like from different countries, so please, let me know how things look to you!

There was a problem with the JSON search suggestions for the search provider in Internet Explorer.
Basically, IE 7 doesn’t understand them.
So now Internet Explorer users get their very own version.

What it means for you is that if you click on the ^ add Goofram to your quick searches button in the upper right corner of the search page, the search provider won’t pop up an error message in IE whenever you enter a query in the little search box in the upper right corner.
